The original Total Recall still holds up, but the remake made me mad

I watched the 2012 Total Recall remake last week and it just made me miss the 1990 version so bad. The original had that gritty, weird vibe with the three boobs guy and the mars stuff, but the remake took all that out and made it a generic chase movie. Why would you remake a cult classic and strip away everything that made it unique? It felt like the studio was just cashing in on the name without caring about the fans. Did anyone actually enjoy that version or was it just a waste of time like I think?

Nodded along until you mentioned the three boobs guy and then I realized how badly the remake missed the point entirely. They literally took the most memorable scene in the whole movie and went "nah, we don't need that weirdness here" which is just insane to me. The original had this chaotic energy where anything could happen like a dude's head exploding in a decompression chamber and the remake gave us a bland chase through some neon tunnels. Honestly felt like the studio executives watched the 1990 version and only remembered the fight scenes (you know, the generic parts). Total waste of a perfectly good Colin Farrell action career moment.

Three boobs guy is still a better love story than the remake's whole script.
