Shoutout to the $2 theater in my hometown that still shows the original Freaky Friday instead of the 2003 remake
I caught the 1976 version at a second-run theater in Poughkeepsie last weekend for two bucks and realized the whole body swap gag worked better without the pop punk soundtrack and Lindsay Lohan's garage band subplot, so what remake do you think actually made the original look better?
That "body swap gag worked better without the pop punk soundtrack" point hits hard, because the 2003 version leaned so hard on the music and the band stuff that the actual switching bodies part felt like a side note. The Parent Trap remakes do the same thing to me, the original 1961 one is way more fun because it just lets the swap be the whole joke.
