Saw the 'RoboCop' remake from 2014 and it made me mad all over again

I finally caught the 2014 RoboCop on streaming last night and I was fuming by the end. The original had that perfect mix of dark humor and violence that made it stand out. This new one just felt like a generic action movie with a robot suit. Was there really a demand for this? I remember it bombing at the box office too. Does anyone actually like this version better than the 87 one?

The 2014 version actually has a more coherent story and better emotional stakes than the original ever did.

My friend from work rented this one night thinking it would be a fun throwback. He fell asleep twenty minutes in and woke up during the final fight scene, said he didn't even care enough to rewind what he missed. The original made you feel something, good or bad. This one just kind of sits there on the screen.

i mean @zara572 is it really that deep though? some movies are just background noise and that's fine, not everything has to be some big emotional experience.
