Saw the new Point Break and it completely misses the point

The 2015 remake has no soul compared to the 1991 classic. They replaced surfing with extreme sports but forgot the characters. It feels like a generic action film with the same name. Why bother remaking a movie if you strip out what made it special?

Yeah, the part about it feeling like a generic action film with the same name hits hard. I felt the same way about the Total Recall remake. They kept the basic idea but lost all the weird charm and personality of the original. It just became a slick, boring shoot-em-up. Remakes work when they bring something new but keep the heart, not just the title. What's a remake you thought actually got it right?
