Sat through the new RoboCop remake and walked out angry

I gave it a chance last weekend at the AMC in Denver and it was all flashy CGI with none of the grit or heart of the original. Why do they even bother remaking classics when they miss the whole point? Has anyone else had a remake ruin a movie you loved?

Whoa, I gotta say I actually liked the new RoboCop! I watched it twice now and I don't think it's trying to be the old one, it's doing its own thing. The original is a classic for sure but that slow, gritty 80s style wouldn't work today with how fast movies are paced now. Samuel L Jackson's character felt like a real commentary on media and politics which I thought was pretty sharp. I know everyone loves the old one's violence and satire but the remake tackles corporate control in a different way that still hits hard. Different era, different movie, but I didn't walk out angry at all.

Yeah, I feel you on that. It's tough to step out of the shadow of something so iconic, but it's got its own moments that are worth appreciating.
