Sat through the new "RoboCop" remake and felt like I wasted a whole afternoon

Sat through the new "RoboCop" remake and felt like I wasted a whole afternoon. I finally gave in and watched the 2014 RoboCop remake last weekend, and honestly I was so annoyed after. The original from 1987 had this gritty, dirty Detroit vibe that made you feel the city was falling apart. This new one is all shiny and polished like a Marvel movie, and the social commentary just got buried under special effects. It took me 2 hours and 45 minutes of my Saturday to sit through it, and by the end I was just scrolling my phone. Why would they even touch RoboCop when the original still holds up great? Has anyone else sat through a remake that completely missed the point of what made the first movie good?

Haven't you ever rewatched the original lately? That ED-209 stop-motion stuff really hasn't aged well at all.

Kinda had the same reaction honestly. Used to think people were being too hard on remakes, but this one just proved me wrong. All that polish and flash can't replace the raw feel of the original.
