Pro tip: I chose to watch the 2016 'Ghostbusters' remake over the original for a movie night with my nephew in Omaha, and it was a $12.99 rental that felt like a total waste.

Has anyone else had a remake completely miss the charm of the original like that, or is it just me?

Oh totally! That remake just felt like it was trying way too hard to be funny. The original had this weird, chill vibe that they completely lost.

Yeah, it traded that easy charm for a bunch of forced, loud jokes.

It's like when a quiet local cafe gets bought out and suddenly there's loud music and gimmicky drinks. They lose what made them special trying to appeal to everyone. You see it with old TV shows coming back too, all flash and no heart. The charm gets replaced by a checklist of what they think people want now.
