Point Break 2015 was a crime against surfing movies

I still get heated thinking about that 2015 Point Break remake. The original from 1991 had real stunts and actual actors who looked like they belonged on a surfboard, but the remake swapped out everything for CGI and extreme sports montages. Why did they even make it when the original still holds up perfectly? I remember watching it with my buddy Dave and we both walked out 40 minutes in because it felt like a bad commercial. Has anyone else tried to sit through the whole thing without cringing?

Yeah but casey16, he wasn't sitting through the whole 125 minutes of it. I actually did, mostly out of morbid curiosity. The thing is, that movie didn't even have a real surfing scene in it. They used a green screen for every single wave that Keanu Reeves's replacement was supposedly riding. I remember them bragging about the "eco-terrorist" plot like it was deep or something, but it was just a bunch of skydiving and base jumping with surfboards slapped on as an afterthought. My buddy Dave counted, and there were maybe two actual wave shots in the whole first hour.

Man, you're wrong-that movie was a fun over-the-top thrill ride that never pretended to be the original.
