Overheard my niece say the new Point Break was 'better' and I had to walk away
She said the 2015 one had 'better stunts and actually made sense' and I just stood there staring at my coffee for a solid 30 seconds before I could even form a response. Has anyone else had a younger relative defend a remake that just clearly missed the whole point of the original?

Oof, my buddy's nephew said the same thing. He almost chipped a tooth.

Yeah, "almost chipped a tooth" is basically my whole life story at this point... pretty sure I've got a direct line to the dentist on speed dial.

It's not just movies, it's everything now. I watched my nephew try to explain why the new Ghostbusters was better than the original and I had to walk away from the table. Kids today are raised on flashy sequels and fast cuts, they can't sit still for a slower story that builds characters. Everything has to be bigger and louder, and they think that makes it "better" just because it's more intense. They don't get that the original was a weird little movie made by a bunch of comedians, not a corporate product. Remakes are like fast food, tastes good in the moment but has no soul.
