My neighbor's kid asked me why they remade 'The Crow' and I had no good answer
He was genuinely confused because he saw the trailer for the new one and said the original looked cooler. I checked the box office numbers and the remake made less than 9 million dollars opening weekend. It just feels like a studio saw a name they owned and greenlit it without a real reason. What's a remake you think was made just because they had the rights?

Remakes happen all the time, it's just how Hollywood works now. The studio probably figured the brand name still had some value with older fans. It's not a big deal when a movie flops, they'll just move on to the next one.

Look at it from a studio's point of view. The original Crow is thirty years old, most of that kid's generation has never seen it. Remakes like The Fly or The Thing were hated at first but are now classics because they brought new ideas. Maybe this new team had a vision to update the story for today, different music, a new look. Just because it flopped doesn't mean the reason for making it was lazy, sometimes you swing and miss trying to introduce a cool story to new people.
