My buddy Dave told me the 2012 Total Recall remake wasn't that bad and I made him watch it again just to prove him wrong

We got through 20 minutes before Dave admitted the original had way more heart and the three-breasted lady scene felt tacked on, has anyone else had to re-educate a friend about a bad remake?

Brought up this exact same thing with a buddy last year about the RoboCop remake. He insisted it was "fine for what it was" until we actually sat through the whole thing together. By the end he was apologizing for ever defending it. The new one just doesn't have any of the satirical bite or that raw, gritty feel of the original. Your mileage may vary but those early 2010s remakes really dropped the ball compared to what they were copying.

Honestly, that reminds me of when I tried to convince my buddy Steve that the 2011 Fright Night remake was actually okay. We watched it and he kept pointing out how the original had that creepy suburban vibe and the dad joke subplot in the new one just felt like a bad sitcom. By the time we got to the vampire fight in the garage he was already scrolling on his phone.
