Hot take: The 2004 Dawn of the Dead remake didn't need to exist
I was watching the original 1978 Dawn of the Dead the other night and it hit me - that remake from 2004 is basically a completely different movie with the same name. The original was slow and creepy, about consumerism and being stuck in a mall. The remake was just fast zombies and action scenes. Why call it Dawn of the Dead if you're gonna change the whole point? My buddy Tom argued it's better because it's more exciting but I said why not just make a new zombie movie then. Has anyone else felt like some remakes just borrow a title to get attention but don't actually respect what made the original work?

Yeah I totally agree. The 2004 one is just fast zombies running around a mall shooting guns. It's not even the same movie. They just slapped the name on it because the original was famous. That's lazy if you ask me. If you want action zombies make a different movie.
