Found a workaround for that terrible Total Recall remake that actually made it watchable
I put the 2012 Total Recall on mute and played the original 1990 movie audio over top, synced up the big action beats, and it somehow fixed the lifeless feel for about 20 minutes before the timing drifted, has anyone else tried something like this for a flop remake?

Oh man, that's genius. I did something similar with that awful RoboCop remake from 2014. I synced up the original score and some sound effects from the original and it really helped the whole feel for a while. It actually made the new one feel like it had some soul instead of just feeling like a generic action movie. But you're right, the timing always drifts and it gets frustrating after a bit. I swear these remakes just don't have the same heartbeat as the originals no matter what you try to layer over them.

Is it really a workaround if you end up just doing sound design karaoke for 20 minutes before everything falls apart?
