Thought a $12 cap discharge tool was snake oil and it just saved me from a hot chassis bite
After getting zapped off a dryer capacitor in Rochester in October I finally bought one of those little resistor sticks, and now I am wondering what other cheap tools I dismissed as a gimmick that actually belong in the bag.
A $30 non-contact voltage tester was that tool for me. I grabbed one at a yard sale thinking it was junk but it kept me from grabbing a live wire twice now, once on a light switch and once on an outlet I swore I killed at the breaker. Mine just beeps and lights up, nothing fancy, but it earns its spot in the pouch.
