The weird noise trick I found on a Samsung fridge last Tuesday

Had a Samsung refrigerator that had been making this low hum for weeks. Customer was convinced the compressor was going out. Turned out the drain pan underneath had shifted just a bit and was vibrating against the metal frame. I shoved a piece of foam weatherstripping between them and it went dead silent. Anyone else run into a simple fix that sounded way worse than it actually was?

Honestly I used to think weird noises always meant something expensive was about to blow. That weatherstripping trick opened my eyes to how small stuff can sound huge.

Oh man, the Ryan's totally right. I had a similar thing happen with my own fridge last year, a Whirlpool that started making this loud clicking noise every time the ice maker ran. I was mentally preparing for a huge repair bill, even started looking up replacement parts online. Turned out the ice maker arm was just a tiny bit bent and hitting the side of the freezer bin. I literally just bent it back with my fingers and it stopped completely, lol. It's amazing how a panic-inducing sound can be fixed with basically no effort or money. Now whenever I hear a weird noise from an appliance, I always check for the dumbest possible cause first before assuming the worst.
