That Samsung refrigerator at the Lakeside apartment complex taught me a hard lesson about sealed systems

I spent four hours troubleshooting a no-cool call last Tuesday before I realized the compressor was running backwards due to a bad inverter board, something I never would have caught if the senior tech hadn't stopped by and put his meter on the windings has anyone else run into this issue with these newer inverter compressors?

Got the same call three months ago on a brand new LG fridge, damn thing was warm and the compressor felt hot but never kicked over proper. Senior tech showed me the same trick, meter on the windings and sure enough the inverter was feeding it wrong frequency, swapped the board and it fired right up. Makes you wonder how many compressors got replaced for nothing before they figured this out, I've got a buddy who threw three compressors at a similar problem before he caught the inverter board.

Read an article last week that said LG had some bad batches of inverter boards around 2020-2021. Would explain a lot of the headaches people have been having with those compressors lately. Any idea if that lines up with what you've seen?

@blair_dixon that article matches what I heard from a repair guy last month too.
