Refrigerator compressor swap: used vs. new compressor for a 12 year old unit
I had a call last Tuesday in Columbus for a Whirlpool fridge that stopped cooling. The compressor was shot but it's an old model. I had to pick between dropping in a used compressor for $180 or a new one for $350. I went with the used one to save the customer money. It's been running 4 days now with no issues but I'm still worried about the warranty. Anyone else take this gamble or do you always push for new parts?

Yeah I mean "knock on wood" is basically crossing your fingers and hoping, not exactly a solid warranty plan. Four days isn't really a long enough test to call it a win.
