Had a customer in Phoenix try to fix their own dryer with a hammer
They smashed the whole drum sensor trying to get a stuck sock out. Now I always check for DIY damage before I even plug in my meter. What's the worst home repair mess you've walked into?

Read a story online about a guy who tried to fix a leaky pipe with duct tape and chewing gum. Lasted about a day before it blew and flooded his kitchen. The water damage cost more than a plumber would have charged ten times over. That kind of stubbornness just makes the problem worse and way more expensive. People forget that a quick call could save them thousands. Some jobs just need a pro from the start.

Duct tape and gum, sounds like he was making a snack, not fixing a pipe.

Honestly that hammer story is brutal but it tracks. Walked into a bathroom remodel once where the homeowner tried to replace a shower valve with no clue. They had water lines just dangling behind the wall, no shutoffs, and had been showering at the gym for a month. The whole thing was a moldy, soggy mess that cost triple to fix. Some people just should not own tools.
