Found out my ice maker was just a $12 solenoid all along

Last week I spent 45 minutes diagnosing a fridge that wouldn't drop ice. Pulled the whole assembly apart, checked the dispenser board, even traced the wiring through the door hinge. Turns out it was just a stuck solenoid that cost $12 at the supply house. Has anyone else found a simple fix that had you second guessing how long you spent on it?

Did you kick the fridge first before diving into the wiring?

Honestly kicking the fridge first is a classic move. What worked for me was unplugging it and letting it sit for like 10 minutes before touching anything. Sometimes those compressors hold a charge and it's better to be safe than sorry. I also took pictures of the wiring before pulling anything apart, that way I could look back at them if I got confused. Made the whole thing way less stressful, especially when stuff started looking like a mess.
