Found a weird fix for a fridge that kept icing up the freezer fan

I had this Frigidaire that would build up ice around the fan every 3 weeks like clockwork. I tried defrosting it, checking the door seal, even replaced the defrost thermostat. Nothing worked for more than a month. Then I noticed the drain tube was just barely touching the back wall when the fridge leveled up. I pushed it forward maybe half an inch and it's been 5 months now with zero ice. Has anyone else seen a drain tube position cause this kind of cycling issue?

Honestly didn't believe it myself until I tested it. Had the same Frigidaire model and was about to toss the whole fridge. I moved the drain tube maybe an inch forward and bam, no more ice buildup for over 4 months now. Even checked the manual after and it doesn't mention anything about positioning. Ngl I was pretty skeptical at first but sometimes the smallest things make the biggest difference.

Four months is a decent run but idk, seems like you might have just gotten lucky with the angle. I've seen people move those drain tubes around on various forums and sometimes it works for a week then the ice comes back worse. Maybe it's just me but I'd wait until you hit that one year mark before calling it a permanent fix.
