Dryer vent cleaning made a 40 minute cycle drop to 25
Did a house call in Toledo last Tuesday where the customer said their dryer was taking forever and tripping the thermal cutoff. Pulled the vent line off the wall and it was packed solid with lint, probably 6 years of buildup. After I ran the brush kit through it and vacuumed everything out, the next cycle finished in 25 minutes flat. Has anyone else seen that much of a difference from just a vent cleaning, or was this unit just extra neglected?

Whoa, hold on there. A 15 minute difference is a pretty big jump, I'll give you that, but I've seen way too many dryers where people blame the vent and it ends up being a bad heating element or a busted thermostat instead. You gotta wonder if the customer just happened to pick a smaller, lighter load that second time, or if the room temp changed and it made that much of a difference. I'm not saying you didn't do a good job, but I'd want to run a few more cycles before I'd call it a miracle fix. Did you check the actual airflow at the outside vent cap before you left, or just the inside part?
