Discovered a 5 dollar capacitor fix that saved a 900 dollar washer
The drum was barely spinning and every diagnostic code pointed to the control board, but after 3 tries swapping sensors I checked the main capacitor with my multimeter and it read 2 uF less than spec, so I popped in a generic replacement from the local electronics shop and the machine runs like new, has anyone else found cheap parts solving what looks like a board failure?
Checked the cap with an ESR meter too or just the uF reading? Asking because a cap can read close to spec on straight capacitance and still be toast once it heats up under load, and that's the kind of thing that makes you chase sensors and boards for weeks. Also curious what brand and spec your generic replacement was, because if it was a cheapo with a low temp rating it might drift on you again in a year. Did you test the old one cold and then after the machine ran a bit to see if the number moved?
