Beach house oven failure led to a simple sand check

I was fixing an oven at a coastal rental last summer. Sand had gotten into the electrical connections, causing it to short. Do you guys encounter similar problems in seaside areas?

Dealing with sand in electrical connections is super common near the coast. I had a outdoor speaker system fry last year because of sand seepage. What worked for me was taking it apart and blowing out all the grit with compressed air. You gotta be thorough though, any leftover sand will just cause more shorts. Now I use dielectric grease on connections to keep moisture and sand out, helps a ton. Regular checks are key if you're living or renting out in those areas.

Calling it 'super common' seems like a stretch, doesn't it?

Yeah, that moisture from the sea air really makes a bad combo with the sand. It gets into everything and just wrecks stuff faster. Tough way to learn the hard way.
