Visited Akihabara last month and the anime section felt dead compared to 2019
Went to Tokyo for a week and spent a full day in Akihibara. I walked into like 5 different stores that used to have stacks of Blu-rays and figures out front. Now it's all二手 stores selling old phones and random electronics. The top floor of Radio Kaikan still had some good Gundam kits but the rest of the building felt like a mall that gave up. Anyone else notice the hobby scene shrinking over there or was it just a bad day?

Yeah that's rough, sorry man. Was really hoping that place would stay strong.

Was really hoping that place would stay strong" - man, that hit me right in the gut. I honestly thought they'd be around forever with how loyal their regulars were. They had that pepperoni pizza that was the only thing that cured my late night cravings after a bad shift. Guess nobody's safe these days, even the ones that seem untouchable.
