I finally finished all 1400 episodes of Naruto and Shippuden last week

What surprised me most wasn't the ending, but how many filler arcs I actually ended up liking more than the main story, anyone else find themselves rooting for the side characters more than the main ones?

Back in 2017 my buddy Mark kept telling me to watch the filler episodes in Naruto, said they added depth to the side characters. I skipped all of them because I wanted to get to the main story faster. Turns out he was right. After I finally finished the series last year I went back and watched some of those fillers and they really do make the world feel bigger. The episodes about the hidden villages and the old ninja wars were actually good. Has anyone else regretted skipping content on a long running show?

Took me 3 rewatches to notice the background animation in Evangelion

I always thought Evangelion was just about the big robot fights and the heavy stuff. Then my buddy pointed out a scene where a train passes behind Shinji and the shadows move frame by frame. I went back and checked episode 5 around the 12 minute mark, and he was right. Now I catch myself pausing just to watch the little details in the background of older anime. Does anyone else get distracted by this stuff or am I just overthinking it now?

Dropped $80 on Crunchyroll premium and it actually saved me money

Everyone says free sites are better but I was wasting hours finding working links for One Piece every week. That sub fee pays for itself when I actually watch the episodes instead of refreshing dead streams. Has anyone else found paying actually more practical than freeloading?

Went back to subbed anime after 15 years of dubs only

I used to watch nothing but dubbed anime back in high school around 2008. Got into a routine where I just hated reading subs so I stuck with dubs for everything. Last month I decided to give Attack on Titan a shot in Japanese with subs and I could not believe how much more emotion came through the original voices. The dub actors are fine but the original cast just hits different in key scenes. Anybody else make the switch later in life or am I just getting old and picky lol

Realized I'd been watching subbed anime on 2x speed for 3 months

I thought I was just getting through shows faster, you know, being efficient. Then my buddy asked why I kept laughing at jokes that hadn't happened yet and I figured out my player got stuck on that setting after an update. Anyone else have a dumb player glitch that changed how they watched something?

My volume knob on my Denon receiver just gave up last night

I was watching episode 7 of Vinland Saga and went to turn it down during a loud scene. The knob just spun freely with no resistance, no volume change at all. I had to dig out the remote from between the couch cushions since that still works fine. Has anyone else had a knob fail on a 3 year old receiver like that?

Appreciation post: Hit 100 episodes on my rewatch of Gintama

I started rewatching Gintama back in June just to kill time between workouts. Didnt think Id stick with it, but last night I hit episode 100. That surprised me because I usually drop shows around 30 if they dont hook me. The comedy just clicked this time around, especially the serious arcs mixed in. Anyone else have a show sneak up on you like that?

Back in high school I only watched stuff with huge fights and magic systems, thought anything without a big plot was basically a waste of time. I remember my friend kept trying to get me to watch Non Non Biyori around 2016 and I just laughed it off. Fast forward to last February when I was stuck at home with a nasty cold and ran out of things to watch. I figured whatever, I'll throw on the first episode of something chill just to pass the time. Three hours later I had binged like 8 episodes and I couldn't even tell you why I was so into it. There's something about watching characters just live their normal lives with no stakes that hit different when you're older. I still love my action shows but now I get why people rave about shows like that. Has anyone else had a genre they swore off for years that eventually just clicked?

TIL skipping the opening recaps in One Piece saves like 40 hours total

Went back and watched Cowboy Bebop after 15 years and it hit different now

I first saw Cowboy Bebop back in high school around 2008 on Adult Swim. Back then I thought it was cool because of the space fights and Jet's big metal arm.
