The animation quality in Bleach took a nosedive halfway through the Arrancar arc and I can't believe nobody warned me

I noticed the fight scenes went from crisp and fluid to stiff and choppy around episode 230, right when they switched studios for some filler episodes, and has anyone else spotted a clear dip in quality during those stretches?

Man, I just read something about this online where some folks tracked the exact episode where the animation team changed and it lines up with what you are saying. I saw on a forum that episode 230 is indeed when the studio shifted for a filler arc and the regular animators got pulled off. The fight between Ichigo and Ulquiorra later on still looked good in parts but the random sword clashes in-between got all stiff and the characters started looking off model. I remember the episode where Hitsugaya fights Halibel had some really wonky movement compared to the earlier fights like Ichigo vs Grimmjow.

Can you skip those episodes and still follow the main story?

Wait are you serious, the studio actually changed hands right in the middle of the Arrancar arc? I never bothered to look that up but that explains a ton of stuff I noticed. I remember reaching that point and thinking my eyes were playing tricks on me because the fights felt so much less dynamic all of a sudden. The movement in those later episodes just feels off somehow, like everyone's moving in slow motion compared to the earlier stuff. Your mileage may vary but I honestly think the show lost some of its magic right around there and never fully got it back.
