That moment my anime debate group broke into a 2 hour argument about filler arcs
I tried to organize a casual watch party for Bleach last Saturday, you know, just pick the best episodes without the filler, but then someone brought up how the Bount arc actually had some hidden themes about loneliness. Before I knew it, the whole room (8 people, mind you) was shouting about whether skipping filler is disrespectful to the original animators' work. Has anyone else had a friendly anime discussion spiral into a full-blown philosophy debate like that?

The Bount arc guy actually converted two people (including me, kind of) by pointing out that skipping filler is like only reading the plot summary of a book - you miss the weird little detours that make the world feel lived in. Now half the group wants to do a "filler appreciation night" which is going to be either brilliant or a total disaster (probably both).

Ask them if they really believe skipping filler is disrespectful or if theyre just trying to justify watching the boring episodes. Did the Bount arc guy actually convince anyone or just make the argument worse
