Subbed vs dubbed at a con panel, walked out after 10 minutes

At Anime Expo 2023 I sat through a debate panel about sub vs dub and the crowd got so hostile people were yelling over the moderator. Some guy behind me kept screaming 'purist trash' at anyone who preferred dubbed shows and it killed the whole vibe. Has anyone else walked out of a panel or event because the community got too toxic?

Man that 'purist trash' stuff is exactly why I bounced from a mecha panel last year, people were straight up gatekeeping which mobile suits were "real" and it got nasty fast. It sucks when something you love turns into a shouting match over how other people enjoy it. Good on you for leaving, no one should have to sit through that garbage just to hear a discussion.
