Question about how I spent 2 years watching anime wrong

I started watching anime around 2022 with Attack on Titan. Loved it. Then I binged Death Note, Fullmetal Alchemist, all the big ones. Last month my buddy asked me what I thought of the soundtrack in Cowboy Bebop. I said I never noticed it. He looked at me like I was crazy. Then he made me rewatch the first episode with headphones on. I had been watching everything on a laptop speaker or just in the background while doing dishes. For 2 years. I missed so much. Has anyone else realized they were not actually paying attention the whole time?

@tyler6 same here lol, I watched all of Evangelion without subs and thought it was just about robots fighting.

Did you try rewatching your favorite parts with better audio too? @tyler6 that Evangelion thing is wild, but I think a lot of us just zone out on sound until someone points it out. Soundtrack can totally change how a show hits you.
