Wait, I don't know if I fully agree. Sometimes a hot take is just a hot take. My friend always argues for the weird side characters too, but it's not some hidden cry for help. He just thinks they're cooler and more fun to talk about. I think you can totally bond over the surface level stuff without it meaning something deeper. Not every chat needs to turn into therapy.

Yeah but it's not always just surface stuff either. My brother does the same thing and half the time it leads to us talking about real life. Both kinds of chats are valid.
