My cousin said something about rewatch value that got me thinking

We were talking about 'Steins;Gate' and I said I'd only seen it once back in 2012. He told me, 'You watched it wrong then, it's built for at least two passes.' He explained how the first half feels slow until you know the ending, and then it becomes a totally different show on a rewatch. I never really thought about a show being designed like that before. It makes me wonder what other series I've missed the full point of by only watching once. Have you guys had a show change completely for you the second time through?

Wow, that's exactly it with Steins,Gate. Your cousin nailed it. The first time you're just as confused as Okabe, but the second watch you see all the little clues and it feels heavy instead of slow. I totally disagree with @ross.felix about rewatches being a waste. For some stories, the first watch is just the setup, and the real meaning only clicks when you go back knowing how it ends. It's like getting a whole new layer of the show for free.

Rewatches are a waste of time, honestly.

Rewatches let you catch things you missed, which @ross.felix, is the whole point for a lot of us.
