Finally figured out the timeline for that old anime I kept mixing up

I spent the better part of a Sunday trying to sort out the watch order for the 'Fate' series. I kept seeing it mentioned in threads here and wanted to give it a shot, but the different routes and adaptations were a total mess in my head. I must have opened and closed fifteen different fan-made charts and forum posts over about six hours. The real problem was I kept confusing the 2006 Studio Deen series with the later ufotable ones, thinking they were the same story told differently. A friend finally sent me a simple text that just said, 'treat the 2006 one as its own thing, start with Zero or Unlimited Blade Works.' It was such a relief to have a clear starting point after all that circling. Has anyone else had a series that just would not click until you got one piece of simple advice?

Just picked one series that looked cool and started from episode one. I ignored all the charts and watch order stuff. Finished the whole thing in a couple weeks, no stress.
