Figured out a way to stop crashing anime forums during new episode drops
So every Saturday when a new episode of One Piece drops, the Crunchyroll discussion thread would just crash on me. I tried refreshing a ton of times, clearing cache, nothing worked. Then I found this old trick where you load the page in text-only mode first, then switch to full view after 10 minutes. Has anyone else tried that or got a better fix for those busy release times?

Oh man, I was having the same problem with Attack on Titan drops! I started using a text-only browser add-on that loads the raw page first, then flipping to full view after a few minutes, and it worked like a charm for me too.

Oh yeah, I feel you on that. I actually did something kinda similar with my Crunchyroll app because it kept freezing during the big fight scenes. I started using that add-on where it just shows the text descriptions first and then I let it buffer before switching to video. @lindamartin your trick is basically the same thing I do now and it saved me a ton of frustration. The worst part is when you're like right at the climax and it just stops, man I almost threw my remote once. So yeah, that text-first method is solid advice, I wish I'd thought of it earlier.

Yeah that makes sense, I've noticed it's the same with a lot of apps now. They try to cram too much into one screen and it just bogs down. Like my weather app started freezing up last winter when it tried to load the radar map plus all the hourly data at once. I started just opening the text forecast first, then going back for the map after a minute. @adam_thompson53 it's kinda like how people say to do one thing at a time instead of multitasking, the apps need to too.
