Debate: Are 12-episode anime seasons actually better for storytelling? Here's my take after binging 3 shows in a row.

I just finished a 12-episode series called 'The Lost Signal' and felt the tight pacing made every scene count, but then I watched a 24-episode show that had room for slow character moments I actually missed. Which format do you think lets a story breathe better without dragging - the short burst or the longer arc? Has anyone else felt cheated by a 12-episode show that needed more time to land its ending?

...yeah I mean people act like 12 episodes is some kind of sacred art form now but honestly most of those shows just feel like they ran out of budget. The Lost Signal might've been tight but that ending was so rushed it barely made sense. I'd rather have 24 episodes with some filler over a short show that leaves half the plot on the cutting room floor.

Nah, tight pacing beats filler any day, a rushed ending still hits harder than 10 pointless episodes.

Man of the North really nailed the slow burn approach with 26 episodes and it gave the characters room to breathe before things got crazy. @parkerp80 I was on your side until shows like The Lost Signal proved that cutting everything down to the bone just leaves you with a skeleton of a story. Gemini Protocol had 6 extra episodes that some people called filler but they actually set up the twist in a way that made sense later.
