Convinced my buddy to watch Outlaw Star from 1998 and his take hit weird

We did a watch night last Saturday and he said the pacing felt fast compared to shows today. Made me realize older anime crammed a whole arc into 4 episodes where modern shows stretch it to 10. Anyone else notice older shows just got to the point faster?

That whole series felt like it was on fast forward honestly. Maybe it's just me but everything kind of blurred together after a while.
