Chose subtitles over dubbing for my first watch of Attack on Titan

My buddy swore the dub was better but I stuck with subs and the emotional scenes hit way harder with the original voice acting. Has anyone else found a show where the language choice completely changed the experience for them?

Tried watching a Spanish soap opera with subs once and accidentally learned the emotional weight of "ay, dios mío.

Oh wait, is that actually a thing? I always thought telenovelas were just over the top for laughs but maybe I've been missing out on some real emotional depth this whole time.

Got a friend who started binge watching one of those telenovelas and now she casually drops "¡Ay, que dolor!" every time she stubs her toe or burns her toast. She says the drama just hits different when you can feel the emotion behind even the simplest lines. Honestly, I'm half tempted to start one just to upgrade my own everyday reactions.
