Back in 2018, I spent $60 on a Blu-ray box set of an old show...
It was for the original 'Sailor Moon' series, and I thought it would be a cool way to rewatch it without relying on streaming. Honestly, it felt like a waste because the video quality wasn't great and a bunch of episodes were missing... Now I just use Crunchyroll. Anyone else buy physical anime sets that ended up being a letdown?

Ugh, that's why I always check reviews first.

That "no worrying about licenses moving" part is exactly why I still hold onto a few old DVD sets, even if the quality is dated. The real hidden problem nobody mentions is that some of those older releases have completely different voice casts or censored edits that never got fixed in later versions. So you might be holding onto a "time capsule" that's significantly different from what's currently streaming, for better or worse.

Man, I totally get the letdown... but I've had the opposite happen. I grabbed the old "Cowboy Bebop" DVDs years ago, and they're still perfect. No worrying about licenses moving off a streaming service, and the special features are actually cool. Sometimes that physical copy is a lifesaver when your internet's out or a show just vanishes online.
