That time a friend thought my startup sold actual clouds
I was at a BBQ and told someone about my cloud storage company. They asked if we deliver weather, which was awkward but made me see how founders mess up their pitch. I mean, now I just say it's for saving files online and people get it right away.

Isn't it funny how often tech people make things sound way more complicated than they are? I was just reading a blog post about this, how using simple words is the best way to actually connect with customers. The writer said every time you use a fancy word, you risk losing someone who doesn't know it. Your cloud story is the perfect example of that happening in real life. It totally proves that just saying what you do in plain language is the smartest move.

Your move to just say "saving files online" is smart. I once believed you had to use complex terms to be taken seriously. Hearing about mix-ups like yours convinced me that plain language is the way to go.
