My solo adventure in the Rockies turned scary when I overlooked a basic safety rule

I was so eager to start my hike that I completely skipped telling anyone my route details! A surprise snowstorm rolled in, and with no cell signal, I realized I was utterly alone and unaccounted for. Shivering for hours, I finally stumbled upon a ranger station by luck. Solo travelers, never underestimate the importance of sharing your plans before heading out. This simple step can prevent a lot of panic and danger!

From my experience, I once forgot to share my hike details and ended up narrating my entire plan to a confused squirrel. Your mileage may vary, but that furry listener wasn't much help when the weather turned. Take this with a grain of salt, but now I text my route to at least three people before leaving.

My friend Leo only told his dog and got lost for hours.

Texting my location ALWAYS saves me, @jade_murphy66.
