Every porch on my street seems to have an aloe plant now

I was out walking the dog and counted seven houses with aloe vera near the door. Turns out the garden center down the road had a big push on them for summer skin fixes. I might pick one up next time, since my arms turn red after yard work.

Those porch aloes are lifesavers for summer burns. Grab one with thick leaves, they hold more gel. Snip a leaf tip, squeeze the clear stuff right on your skin. Just remember they hate cold, so bring it inside before first frost. Mine's been going strong for three years now.

but honestly it's just a plant... my neighbor acts like she found a cure for cancer with hers. yes it helps a sunburn but so does lotion from the store. people get so into trends and forget it's a basic succulent that's been around forever. it feels like everyone's making a bigger deal out of it than it really is. i'll stick with my old bottle of aloe gel that doesn't need me to remember to water it.
