My take: Sketchbook tours are more about showing off than sharing.

They focus on finished pieces instead of the process. This misses the point of what a sketchbook should be for.

Focusing on finished pieces really misses the point. My own sketchbook is just a bunch of rough ideas I'd never post online.

Exactly! The messy pages are where you figure stuff out. If you only show the polished work, it makes the whole process look too easy.
