Drawing the fishermen at dawn in Vietnam showed me their hard work in a new light
I used to just take photos and move on. Now I get why artists spend hours on one scene.

Isn't it crazy how slowing down to really look at something changes your whole take on it? What @wilson.christopher said about drawing making you ask why things are a certain way shows how this works, turning a quick glance into a deeper look. I see this pattern everywhere now, like when I actually watch my neighbor garden instead of just walking by, and it makes normal life feel more full.

Try carrying a cheap sketchbook next time. You don't need to be good, just force yourself to stop and look. A photo grabs the whole scene in a second, but drawing makes you ask why a shadow falls a certain way or how the nets are really tied. It's that slowing down that changes what you see.

Get why drawing makes you see things differently. When you slow down, you catch all the little stuff that photos miss. It turns a normal scene into something special, lol.
