Why does nobody talk about critics boosting underdog movies?

Check what @piperburns said about one review making a shop blow up. But is that really true? Lots of small businesses get good reviews and still go under. It takes more than just one person liking you online. You need real word of mouth and maybe even some viral luck. I just don't think it's that simple or serious.

Hold on, critics just don't have that much power. Plenty of movies they love still totally flop at the box office. It feels less like control and more like giving a hand to something good.
