How my kid's science fair made me see fish parenting differently
I used to think that in the sea, moms always took care of the young ones. Then my son did his project on seahorses, and we found out the dads carry the eggs. They have a special pouch where the babies grow until they are ready to hatch. I saw a video of a male seahorse giving birth, and it looked really tough. It made me think about how my wife and I split chores at home with our kids. Now I know that some ocean fathers, like clownfish, also guard their eggs fiercely. Learning this fact changed how I view family roles under the water. It's cool to see nature mixing things up just like we do.

Isn't it funny how seahorse dads do all the hard work of giving birth while some human dads struggle to remember trash day? That video of the male seahorse really makes our chores look easy. Now I picture clownfish dads standing guard like overprotective bouncers at a kids' party. The ocean is full of dad heroes showing us up. I might start pointing at fish tanks to motivate my husband with chores.

Seriously, I read this article that said seahorse dads have a way harder job than people realize. Their bodies go through crazy changes to carry the babies, and it takes a ton of energy, like they're running a marathon while pregnant. It's not just a chill few weeks in a pouch. It kinda makes our trash day problems look pretty small, lol. Nature is full of these wild examples that just put our daily stuff into perspective.

Seahorse dads have it rough, but they're amazing!
