TIL arriving early for openers shifted my entire view of local gigs

I used to skip the first sets at indie venues, thinking they weren't worth the time. After catching a full opener on a whim, I was struck by their inventive use of loops and harmonies. Now I make a point to be there from the start, and it's led me to support two new bands regularly. This small change has made my nights out more rewarding and connected.

Skip openers, they rarely justify the early arrival.

Are you serious with that take? Missing openers means you miss half the real show. I've found some of my favorite bands by getting there early, ones I never would have heard otherwise. The whole point is to soak up the whole night, not just rush in for the main event. That build up with the crowd is part of the fun. You're basically paying full price for half the experience. It just feels lazy and you might regret what you missed.

Why even show up early for openers? I rolled in right before the headliner once and it was the SMARTEST move I've made.
