PSA: My unintentional participation in a Sardinian cheese festival procession

I stumbled upon a tiny village in Sardinia during their annual cheese celebration. Before I knew it, I was handed a giant wheel of pecorino and ushered into a parade. The whole thing was in dialect, so I just smiled and nodded while carrying dairy like a champ. Now I'm forever memorialized in their festival photos as 'the confused graphic designer with cheese'.

Ever find yourself accidentally drafted into a village event while traveling? Tbh, I got pulled into a bread-throwing fight in Spain last year. What worked was just committing to the absurdity and following the lead of the person next to me, even if it meant getting flour in my hair. Honestly, leaning into the chaos instead of resisting turned a confusing moment into my favorite trip story.

Pecorino wheels at Sardinian festivals are no joke. You actually carried one in a parade? That's insane. I'm dying at the thought of you confusedly following along in dialect. And now you're a permanent part of their festival lore, that's wild. What did the cheese even smell like up close?

The dialect thing was the real trip... did any of the locals try to help you with gestures or simpler words, or was it just a lot of smiling and nodding while you hauled that thing? I keep picturing someone maybe pointing where to walk next, or laughing and patting your shoulder. What was the actual moment you realized you were part of the lore and not just some lost tourist?
