My mom called my apartment a 'sad beige box' and I'm not even mad
I was showing her my new place over video call and she said, 'It looks like a hospital waiting room, where's the color?' I've got a gray sofa, white walls, and a black coffee table. She grew up in a house with floral wallpaper and knick-knacks on every surface. For me, this clean look feels calm and easy to move from. I think her generation sees a home as a permanent museum, but mine sees it as a flexible base camp. Do you think minimalism is just a young person's way of dealing with instability?
