Found my old iPod from high school and the playlists are a time capsule

I was cleaning out a box in my garage and found my old iPod Classic, the one with the click wheel. I charged it up and the first playlist was all Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco, and My Chemical Romance. Now my main playlist on my phone is a mix of stuff my younger cousin showed me, like hyperpop and bedroom pop artists I find on TikTok. The shift happened around 2018, I just stopped seeking out new music the old way. Anyone else have a moment like this where you see the generational split in your own habits?

Totally get that, my old Spotify wrapped is a different person. I switched from finding bands on forums to just letting the algorithm feed me new stuff. It's weird how the change just sneaks up on you.

Tell me about it, my algorithm thinks I'm still a sad 19 year old.

My 2008 iPod Nano was full of Linkin Park and Green Day. Now my main playlist is just stuff Spotify picks for me based on my morning runs. I don't even remember the last time I bought an album.
