TIL my cheap plastic greenhouse frame from the hardware store only lasted one season.
I chose it over a pricier metal kit to save $80, and a heavy snow in February crushed it flat. Anyone have a sturdy small greenhouse brand they actually trust?

Ugh, classic false economy right there.

My neighbor had the same thing happen with a cheap frame last winter. The problem is those thin plastic connectors at the joints, they just snap under any real weight. I ended up building a simple base from pressure treated 2x4s and bought just the poly panels to attach to it. It cost about the same as a mid range kit but it's solid. You can find free plans for that sort of thing online pretty easy.

Built my own base last year after a similar disaster. Looked like a drunk toddler assembled it, but hey, it's still standing. Those flimsy plastic connectors are a joke waiting for the first stiff breeze. Parker's right, the DIY route is the only way to avoid that mess.
