Just start wobbling every laptop hinge in the store now, it's my new super scientific quality test. Got some hilarious looks last time, but hey, if it can't handle a little jiggle, how's it gonna survive my backpack? What was the actual tip though, just the wiggle check?

Hah, absolutely! I did the exact same thing last month at a big box store (the employee gave me that subtle panic look when I started wobble-checking every model). Found one that felt solid as a rock and another that had a scary amount of play just sitting on the table. That little test honestly saved me from a real creaky mess.

The original PSA said to look for metal-on-metal hinge points, not just a wobble test. I mean, plastic parts can feel solid when new but wear out fast. Idk, I also peek at the hinge gap when opening it, like if it stays even. That tells you more about how well it holds up over time than a quick shake.
